We are planning for puppies Spring/Summer of 2010

Puppies

With the creation of life come responsibilities. After careful thoughts on considering good temperaments, health, and genealogy, we will breed a litter in hopes of getting that special cairn to improve our future generations. It is always hoped that we can keep and show something that will meet all of our expectations. We strive for healthy, conformational, consistent, sound cairn terriers, we value health and temperament above all other aspects, but are also striving to produce a cairn which will be competitive in the show ring.

As a responsible Cairn breeder I participate in the forum of showing dogs. It’s sometimes hard to see the faults in ones own dogs if you have nothing to compare them with. Showing dogs is not just competition and winning but it’s about comparison and education, so that ultimately a breeder can evaluate what’s best for their breeding program and for the breed as a whole. Many breeders get together at shows or Specialty’s and discuss where the breed is going and how to solve problems within the breed. Beware of breeders who say they don’t have to show their dogs or be in clubs to be dedicated to their breed. Where else are they going to meet other likeminded people to share their experiences with?

We are proud to say we are members of the Genesee Valley Kennel Club, and the Cairn Terrier Club of America.

You should also beware of anyone telling you that short legged terriers don’t have any health problems. Dogs are not perfect. The science that is available today permits us to make better educated breeding decisions to breed healthier happier dogs. Before any breeding is planned here at CairnforYou we work with our vet to do breed appropriate testing on our cairns in hopes for a healthy future.

We have attached some photos of pups we have had here for your enjoyment. Feel free to contact us if you would like help in finding your next little pal.
